Sydney Boys Timber Flooring

A guide to Australian floor timbers.

Colour, character and hardness for the species we sand and install most around Sydney. Samples are illustrations; real boards vary, and we bring physical samples to every quote.

Pale golden with a straight, even grain. The most asked-for floor in Sydney homes and easy to live with.

Hardness (Janka, approx.)

9.1 kN

Choosing a timber

What does the Janka rating mean?

It measures how hard a timber is by the force needed to press a steel ball into it. Higher numbers resist dents from furniture, heels and pets better.

Will my floor look like the sample?

Timber is natural, so every board is different and colour changes with the finish you choose. We bring real samples to your quote and can test finishes on your own boards.

Which species suits a home with dogs?

Harder species like Spotted Gum and Grey Ironbark hide claw marks best, especially with a satin or matte finish.

Not sure which timber suits your home?

We'll bring samples to your place so you can see them in your own light.
